The Blue Toaster

Bread is one of the best snacks in the world. Not only is it healthy, but eating it gives a certain feeling of fullness and satisfaction. It is very flexible, too. It can be eaten on its own, or topped with sandwich spread, butter, or cheese. The best bread however is one that is served hot and toasted—not too soft, not too crunchy, but just right. Thanks to the blue toaster, preparing this kind sumptuous snack in 3 minutes or less has been made possible.
The toaster is an appliance that is often found in the kitchen and is used to toast small food items, but especially slices of bread. One of the oldest kinds is the one with two slots for two slices of bread on top, which is able to toast bread in 1 to 3 minutes using 600 to 1200 watts of power. The older kinds of toasters did not use electricity, but open fire. However, this particular kind of toaster did not gain much popularity to the masses.
In the modern age, three kinds of toasters exist. There’s the automatic toaster, the conveyor toaster, and the blue toaster oven. The first of the three is the one with the vertical slots for slices of bread. At the side of the automatic toaster is a lever which turns the toaster on and brings the slices of bread inside the toaster to be heated by its heating mechanism, which are also positioned vertically parallel to the bread slots. When the toasting cycle is over as determined by the internal sensor, the lever automatically goes back down and pushes the toasted bread up. The older models used a similar sensing device called the clockwork timer that determined the “toastedness” of the bread. The popular 1930s toasters on the other hand made use of something called a thermal sensor, which was a more accurate temperature measuring mechanism. The conveyor toaster is the commercial toaster that is used by catering services and restaurants because it is able to toast multiple slices of bread—actually, hundreds of slices of bread—within just one hour. Although businesses were the primary users of conveyors, a domestic version was eventually developed in 1938.
Of all the toasters, the most popular one is the blue toaster oven. The toaster oven actually looks like an electric oven, except that it is far smaller. Actually, it looks and works like an electric oven, except that it functions in a smaller scale. It also has a pull-down door, has metal grills inside, and a little tray which functions as the food holder. The toaster has a switch of some kind which starts the toasting cycle. When the toasting cycle is over, a sound mechanism signals that it is done and the toaster automatically turns off. However, the person has to manually open the toaster door to get the food out.
Toaster ovens can be described short of mini electric ovens. They function like electric ovens, but again, on the scale of being ‘mini’. Toaster ovens can toast different kinds of bread, such as garlic bread, bread topped with spreads, and even home-made pizzas. They can also be used to re-heat refrigerated breads and other foods like hotdog, fish, ham and meat loafs. The internal heating apparatus of toaster ovens differ from one toaster to another, though, and it is also very normal for uneven toasts to occur.
Blue toasters will always be an essential part of the kitchen. Despite the new inventions today in kitchen appliances especially the microwave, which can apparently do more than what a toaster can do, when it comes to bread the toaster remains unbeatable. There are still some things that this basic kitchen appliance can do which new inventions couldn’t, thus, the toaster will always be one of those appliances which the kitchen can never do without.
